Best time of year for a team offsite in Munnar
Munnar is roughly 130 km from Kochi airport and about 5 to 6 hours by road from Bangalore via Hosur if you drive, or fly into Kochi and drive 4 hours up. The weather changes a lot by season, and that affects everything from road conditions to what activities are available. Here is a straightforward look at each season so you can plan without guessing.
Get a proposalOctober to February: The safest window for most teams
This is when Munnar is at its most agreeable. Temperatures sit roughly between 8 and 20 degrees Celsius, skies are mostly clear, and the roads are dry. Tea estate walks, team treks to Meesapulimala or Eravikulam, and outdoor evening sessions are all practical. Hotels fill up fast between December and January, especially around Christmas and New Year. Book at least 6 to 8 weeks ahead if your dates fall in that window. Rates are at their peak during this period, so budget accordingly.
March to May: Warmer but workable, fewer crowds
Temperatures climb to around 25 degrees during the day, which is warm for Munnar but still far cooler than Bangalore in April. Crowds thin out noticeably after February, and hotels are easier to get at negotiated rates. Outdoor activities are still fine in the mornings and evenings. This window suits teams that want a quieter trip without paying peak-season prices. It is also easier to get larger blocks of rooms at good properties. The only trade-off is that the landscape looks a little drier compared to the post-monsoon months.
June to August: Monsoon, proceed with care
The Southwest Monsoon hits Munnar hard. Rainfall is heavy, roads can get blocked by landslides, and outdoor activities are largely off the table. A few properties close during this period. If your team is fine with a quiet, indoorsy retreat and the risk of a disrupted travel day, it can work, but it is not the time for anything activity-heavy. On the upside, rates drop significantly and the hills are genuinely green. Some teams use this window specifically for focused indoor workshops where leaving the resort is not the point. Just keep a flexible return schedule and check road conditions before departure.
September: The transition month, decent value
By September the heaviest rains have usually passed, and the landscape is at its greenest. Roads are mostly clear, though an occasional wet day is likely. This is an underused month for offsites and rates reflect that. You can often negotiate well with properties. Activities start to open back up and the tea estates look their best. It is a reasonable middle ground if October is too expensive and you do not want to risk the peak monsoon months. Worth considering if your team headcount is large and budget is a constraint.

Frequently asked questions
Which month is best for a Munnar offsite if we want outdoor activities and reliable weather?
November to January is the most reliable stretch for outdoor activities. Weather is predictable, activities are fully available, and the roads are in good shape. The downside is higher hotel rates and the need to book well in advance.
Is it safe to plan a corporate trip to Munnar during the monsoon?
It carries real risk. Landslides can close the Munnar ghat roads for a day or more, which disrupts arrival and departure plans. If your offsite relies on outdoor team activities, monsoon months from June to August are not suitable. If you are planning a purely indoor retreat and have flexible travel days, it can be done carefully.
How far in advance should we book for a December or January offsite?
At least 6 to 8 weeks ahead for a group of 20 or more. Good properties get fully blocked by corporates and leisure travelers during this window. Waiting until 3 to 4 weeks before your dates will limit your options significantly and rates will be higher.
What is the typical per-person cost range for a 2-night Munnar offsite?
It depends heavily on the property category and season. At a mid-range resort, budgeting around Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 per person per night on a full-board basis is a reasonable starting point. Peak season at a premium property can push well beyond that. Treemonks can give you a more specific estimate once we know your group size and dates.
