Best time of year for a team offsite in Mysore
Mysore is roughly 145 km from Bangalore, about 3 hours by road on the Mysore Expressway. The city works well for a two-night or three-night offsite, and the experience changes quite a bit depending on when you go. Here is what each season actually looks like on the ground.
Get a proposalOctober to February: The most comfortable window
This is the clearest period to plan. Daytime temperatures sit between 18 and 28 degrees Celsius, evenings are cool, and there is very little rain. Outdoor team activities at Kabini, Nagarhole or the Chamundi Hills foothills are practical without anyone wilting in the heat. The catch is Dasara. If your offsite falls in October, specifically during the ten-day Dasara festival, Mysore hotels book out weeks in advance and room rates can go up by 40 to 60 percent. Plan either before Dasara or after it. November through February is genuinely the sweet spot on price, availability and weather combined.
March to May: Hot but manageable if you plan around it
Temperatures climb from around 28 degrees in March to above 35 degrees by May. Outdoor team activities in the afternoon become uncomfortable and most groups end up spending that time indoors. Morning slots and evening slots still work fine for outdoor programmes. Hotel rates are lower than the peak season, and availability is generally easy. If your team is budget-conscious and the outdoor programme can be front-loaded to mornings, March is acceptable. April and May are better avoided unless there is no other option.
June to September: Monsoon season
Southwest monsoon arrives in Mysore around June and stays through September. Rainfall is moderate compared to coastal Karnataka, so it is not a washout, but outdoor activities become unreliable. Some days are perfectly fine; others involve heavy afternoon showers that disrupt schedules. Rates are at their lowest in this window, sometimes 20 to 30 percent below peak rates, and properties are uncrowded. Teams that do not mind staying indoors for a portion of the programme, or who want a quieter, greener version of Mysore, can make this work. Just build flexibility into the activity schedule and confirm cancellation policies with venues.
The Dasara window: A special case
Dasara in Mysore draws large crowds from across India. The palace illumination and the procession on Vijayadashami are genuinely worth seeing if your leadership team wants a cultural experience as part of the offsite. Some companies plan around this deliberately. But the logistics require early planning. Book hotel blocks at least 6 to 8 weeks in advance. Expect higher F&B minimums at properties. Traffic in the city centre is heavy on procession day. If the cultural angle is not a priority for your group, simply avoid this window and pick a quieter October date after the festival ends.

Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should we block hotels for a Mysore offsite?
For the October to February peak window, 4 to 6 weeks is a reasonable minimum. During Dasara specifically, go at 6 to 8 weeks minimum. For monsoon months, 2 to 3 weeks is usually sufficient since demand is lower.
What is a realistic per-head budget for a two-night Mysore offsite?
It depends heavily on the property category and activity mix. For a mid-range property with meals and one team activity, budget somewhere in the range of 6,000 to 10,000 rupees per person per night, all-in. Luxury properties and custom activity programmes will push that higher. We can give you a sharper number once we know your group size and dates.
Are there enough indoor venue options if the weather turns bad?
Yes. Several resorts and hotels on the Mysore outskirts have dedicated conference halls and indoor activity spaces. The city also has a few standalone banquet and training venues. If you are planning during monsoon months, we recommend confirming indoor backup options for every outdoor activity at the time of booking.
Is Mysore suitable for large groups, say 100 or more people?
Mysore has a reasonable number of properties that can handle groups of 100 to 150 on a single campus. For groups above that size, the options get thinner and you may need to split accommodation across two properties. It is doable but needs more lead time and coordination.
