Offsites in Chikmagalur for large teams (100+)
Chikmagalur works well for large corporate groups. It is about 5 to 6 hours by road from Bangalore, the weather is cooler than the city for most of the year, and there are a handful of properties that can genuinely host 100 or more people without splitting the group across multiple resorts.

Most Chikmagalur properties are mid-sized boutique resorts built for 30 to 60 guests. For a group of 100 or more, you need to shortlist carefully. Look for properties with a single large banquet or conference hall that seats your full headcount, enough cottages or rooms on one campus, and a common dining area that can run buffet service for the whole group at one time. A few estate resorts near Chikmagalur town and around the Mudigere and Sakleshpur belt do meet this brief. Some companies also block two adjacent properties under a single coordinator, which Treemonks can arrange. Just confirm that both kitchens are willing to sync meal timings before you finalise.
Getting 100 people there without a logistics headache
Self-drive is not practical at this scale. The standard approach is a fleet of Tempo Travellers, 12 to 13 seater each, which means roughly 8 to 9 vehicles for 100 people. Some teams prefer a mix of 2 to 3 larger coaches and a few Tempo Travellers for smaller subgroups travelling at different times. Budget around Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000 per Tempo Traveller for a two-night trip including driver allowance, toll and fuel, depending on the operator and season. Leave Bangalore early, ideally before 7 AM, to avoid NH75 traffic near Nelamangala. The last stretch from Hassan to Chikmagalur town is winding, so factor in a comfort break at Hassan. Coordinate a single departure point, usually Silk Board or Hebbal, to keep the convoy manageable.
Activities that work at scale
Chikmagalur is coffee country, so estate walks and coffee plantation tours are an easy anchor activity. Most estates can run guided walks for large groups in batches of 20 to 25. For team-based outdoor activities, the area around Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary and Hebbe Falls has enough space for group treks, nature trails and campfire sessions in the evening. If your offsite includes a structured team-building programme, book a specialist facilitator separately. The venue will provide the ground, but facilitated activities for 100 people need their own coordinator, equipment and a clear run-of-show. Treemonks works with a few Bangalore-based facilitation teams who have handled groups this size in Chikmagalur before.
Budgeting for a large group offsite
For a two-night, three-day trip with accommodation, all meals, transport from Bangalore and basic activities, expect to spend somewhere in the range of Rs 8,000 to Rs 14,000 per person depending on the property category and room sharing ratio. Budget properties with twin or triple sharing come in at the lower end. Premium estate resorts with double occupancy push the number up. The items that tend to get underestimated are offsite A/V hire for the conference session, photographer fees, and any special dietary arrangements for large groups. Get these quoted separately and in writing before you confirm the booking. A deposit of 25 to 50 percent is standard for large group bookings, and most properties will ask for full payment 10 to 15 days before arrival.

Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should we book a Chikmagalur venue for a group of 100?
At least 6 to 8 weeks in advance for weekends, more if your dates fall in October to February, which is the peak season. Properties that can host 100-plus people have limited inventory and they fill up quickly for Friday to Sunday slots. Waiting until 2 to 3 weeks out usually means settling for a second-choice venue or paying a premium.
Is Chikmagalur accessible for employees who are not comfortable with hill roads?
The road from Hassan to Chikmagalur has some curves but it is not comparable to a place like Coorg or Ooty in terms of difficulty. Most people handle it fine. If you have team members who are prone to motion sickness, seat them in front rows of the vehicle and schedule the winding section for the morning leg rather than after a heavy meal.
Can we combine Chikmagalur with Sakleshpur or Coorg in one trip?
You can, but it adds travel time and complexity for a group of 100. Moving a large convoy between two destinations on a two-night trip eats into your activity and rest time. A single base works better at this scale. If the team specifically wants variety, pick a property that is centrally located and plan day excursions rather than shifting the entire group mid-trip.
What happens if it rains during the offsite?
Chikmagalur sees rain from June through September and sometimes into October. Outdoor activities like treks and waterfall visits may not be possible on wet days. When booking, confirm that the venue has covered indoor spaces large enough for your full group to run alternate indoor activities or just gather comfortably. Always have a wet weather plan ready, especially for the evening programme.
