One-day team outing options in Nandi Hills

Nandi Hills and the area around it is one of the more sensible choices for a one-day outing from Bangalore. It is roughly 60 km from the city, the drive takes about 90 minutes from most parts of Bangalore, and there is enough variety in venues and activities to suit teams of different sizes and preferences.

Getting there and back

Most teams leave Bangalore by 7 AM to beat both traffic and the heat. The NH 44 route via Devanahalli is the standard approach. A comfortable AC coach for 30 to 45 people will cost roughly INR 8,000 to INR 12,000 for the day, depending on the vehicle type and operator. If your team is smaller, a couple of Innovas or Tempos work fine and come out cheaper. Plan to be back in Bangalore by 7 PM to 8 PM. That is a realistic timeline, not an optimistic one.

Outdoor activity options

The Nandi Hills area has several properties that run structured outdoor programmes, covering things like zip-lining, rock climbing walls, rappelling, archery, and team relay formats. These work well for groups between 20 and 80 people. If you want something less physically demanding, cycling trails around the base of the hills are available through local operators. A few properties near Karahalli Cross also offer informal cricket and football grounds you can book by the hour.

Venue and resort options for the day

There are a handful of day-use resorts and farm stays within 10 km of Nandi Hills that allow corporate groups to book for the day without an overnight stay. Day packages typically include lunch, a couple of activity slots, and use of the pool and grounds. Pricing runs from around INR 1,200 to INR 2,500 per person depending on the property and what is included. Kalavara Durga and the area around Muddenahalli also have quieter farm-style properties if you want something with less of a resort feel.

Food and meals

Most venues include a buffet lunch in the day package. The spread is usually South Indian with some North Indian options, and it is generally adequate for a corporate group. If your team has specific dietary requirements, confirm in advance, as smaller farm stays may have limited flexibility. For evening snacks on the drive back, a few dhabas near Devanahalli are reliable. We would not recommend depending on the highway food courts at peak hours on a Sunday.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum group size that makes sense for a Nandi Hills outing?

Most structured activity venues around Nandi Hills are set up for groups of 20 or more. Below that, you are still welcome at most places, but the per-person cost goes up and some team activity formats do not work as well with very small groups. For teams of 10 to 15, a farm stay or private villa booking makes more practical sense.

Can we do this on a weekend without booking far in advance?

Weekend slots, especially Saturdays, get taken up quickly between October and February. Three to four weeks of advance notice is the minimum we recommend for a decent venue with activities. Last-minute bookings in peak season usually mean you end up with whatever is leftover, which is not always what you had in mind.

Is it possible to include a Nandi Hills trek as part of the outing?

The main Nandi Hills viewpoint is a protected forest area managed by the Karnataka Forest Department. Access rules and timings change periodically, and large corporate groups sometimes face restrictions. It can be included as part of the itinerary but should not be the centrepiece of your plan. We treat it as an optional add-on rather than a confirmed item.

What is a realistic per-person budget for a one-day outing here?

For a reasonably comfortable day with transport, a venue day package including lunch, and two to three activity slots, budget around INR 2,500 to INR 4,000 per person for a group of 30 or more. Smaller groups will see higher per-person costs. This does not include any special equipment, photography, or add-ons you might want.
