A 2-3 day team offsite itinerary for Ooty
Ooty is a reliable offsite destination for Bangalore teams. The drive is roughly 6 to 7 hours, the weather is almost always pleasant, and there is enough to keep a group of 20 to 150 people engaged without anyone feeling like they are stuck on a forced fun trip.

Most teams drive up via Mysore and Gudalur. That route is smoother than the Mettupalayam ghat road and works well for tempo travellers and buses. Plan to leave Bangalore by 6 AM to reach by early afternoon, giving you a full first evening. If your group is smaller, say 15 to 25 people, a convoy of Innovas works fine. For larger groups, a 35-seater or 45-seater bus is more practical and keeps everyone together. Local sightseeing inside Ooty is best handled with smaller vehicles hired on the ground.
Day 1: Arrival, Check-In, and an Easy Evening
Check in, have lunch at the property, and give people an hour to settle. A late-afternoon walk around the Botanical Gardens or a short drive to Doddabetta works well as a low-pressure icebreaker. Keep the first evening simple, bonfire at the resort, dinner together, maybe a quiz or a casual game session. Teams that arrive tired do not want a packed schedule on day one. Book properties in the Finger Post or Snooty Ooty area if you want space and privacy. Homestay-style bungalow resorts are better for team bonding than hotel corridors. Budget roughly Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 6,500 per person per night on a full-board basis depending on the property.
Day 2: The Main Offsite Day
This is where you put in the structured work and the main activity block. A half-day of facilitated sessions, workshops, or strategy discussions in the morning works well when the weather is cool. After lunch, move to outdoor team activities. Options that work reliably in Ooty include cycling on the Ooty to Emerald route, a tea estate walk with a factory tour at Glendale or similar, or a short trek near Avalanche Lake. In the evening, some groups do a cooking challenge or a cultural programme arranged through the resort. Keep it optional. A small group that would rather sit by the fire should be able to do that. If you are planning any adventure activity like rappelling or a longer trek, Treemonks can arrange certified vendors with proper safety equipment.
Day 3: Wrap Up and Head Back
Check out is usually by 10 or 11 AM. Use the morning for a short closing session or team debrief, 45 minutes to an hour is enough. After that, a quick stop at the Ooty market for chocolate and tea, then start the drive back. You should reach Bangalore by 7 to 8 PM if you leave by noon. For a 3-day trip, the Nilgiris also gives you the option of routing through Coonoor on day 3 for a longer stop at Sim's Park or a lunch at one of the bungalow restaurants there before heading down. It adds about 45 minutes but teams generally enjoy the break.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best time of year to do an Ooty offsite from Bangalore?
October to June works well for most teams. July to September is the monsoon season and the ghat roads can get difficult, so we generally advise against it unless you are comfortable with the weather risk. April and May are peak tourist months so book accommodation at least 6 to 8 weeks in advance.
How much should we budget per person for a 2-night Ooty offsite?
A reasonable all-in budget is Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 18,000 per person for 2 nights, covering transport from Bangalore, full-board accommodation, and 2 to 3 organised activities. The number moves depending on the property you choose and group size. Larger groups generally get better rates on both stays and transport.
Can Treemonks handle groups of more than 100 people in Ooty?
Yes, though for groups above 80 people you are typically looking at splitting across two adjacent properties rather than fitting everyone into one resort. We coordinate across both venues so the programme still runs as a single offsite. It is worth discussing this early so we can block the right combination of properties.
Do we need to arrange anything with the company before the trip, or does Treemonks handle everything?
We handle transport, accommodation, activity vendors, and on-ground logistics. From your side, we need a confirmed headcount, dietary preferences, and clarity on the programme objectives, whether it is mostly recreation, structured workshops, or a mix. The earlier we get those inputs, the better the options we can put in front of you.
