How to plan a corporate offsite in Hassan
Hassan is about 185 km from Bangalore, roughly 3 to 3.5 hours by road on NH75. It is far enough to feel like a proper break, close enough to avoid a flight or an overnight train. For a 2-night or 3-night offsite, it works well for teams of 15 to 80 people.

Most Bangalore teams hire a tempo traveller or a mini-bus from Majestic or their office. Budget around Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000 per vehicle one-way depending on size. Departure by 6 AM means you arrive before 10 AM, which gives you a full working morning at the venue. There is no direct train that fits a day-trip schedule, but the Hassan railway station does get overnight trains from Bangalore if a few team members prefer to travel independently. For groups above 40, two buses are usually cleaner than one large one.
Choosing a venue in Hassan
Hassan town itself has a few business hotels with decent conference rooms, but most teams go to properties near Shravanabelagola, Belur or Halebidu, which are 30 to 60 km from Hassan town. Resorts in that belt typically offer cottages, an outdoor lawn, a conference hall with projector and basic AV, and meals included in the package. Expect to pay roughly Rs 3,500 to Rs 6,500 per person per night on a full-board plan depending on the property. If your team wants heritage visits built into the programme, a property near Belur or Halebidu makes the most sense. If the focus is purely on work sessions and downtime, a quiet resort closer to Hassan town reduces driving on the second day.
Building your offsite agenda
A standard 2-night itinerary looks like this. Day one: travel, check-in, a half-day work session in the afternoon, team dinner. Day two: full-day workshop or planning session in the morning, an outdoor activity or heritage site visit in the afternoon, bonfire or team dinner in the evening. Day three: short wrap-up session, check-out, travel back. Keep the work sessions to 3 to 4 hours at a stretch. More than that and attendance drops off. Build in at least one unstructured block where people can walk around, play a game or just sit. That is usually where the actual conversations happen.
Budget and practical numbers
For a team of 30 people on a 2-night offsite, a rough all-in budget including transport, accommodation on full board, venue hire, one team activity and basic event coordination sits between Rs 1.8 lakh and Rs 3 lakh depending on the property tier. That works out to Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000 per head. Book at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance, especially for weekends between October and February when this region sees more leisure travel. Properties fill up quickly around Dussehra and Christmas. Get the menu, AV checklist and room allocation confirmed in writing before you pay the advance.

Frequently asked questions
Is Hassan suitable for a team that wants to mix work sessions with sightseeing?
Yes, it is one of the better options in the 200 km radius from Bangalore for exactly that. Belur, Halebidu and Shravanabelagola are all within an hour of most resorts in the area. A half-day visit to one of these fits into a 2-night schedule without eating into your workshop time.
What is the best time of year to plan a Hassan offsite?
October to February is the most comfortable. The weather is cool and dry, and the heritage sites are pleasant to visit. Avoid the peak of monsoon, June to August, if your team plans to spend any time outdoors, as roads near Halebidu can get slow and some resorts have limited outdoor space during heavy rain.
Can we get a venue that handles both the conference setup and team activities?
Most mid-range and above resorts in the area offer indoor conference facilities and can arrange outdoor activities like nature walks, cricket or a bonfire on the property. For structured team-building activities, you would typically need to bring in a facilitator separately. Treemonks can coordinate both the venue and the activity vendor.
How far in advance should we confirm the booking?
Three to four weeks is the minimum for a smooth booking. If you are travelling during a long weekend or between October and January, six to eight weeks is safer. Pay the advance only after you have the room count, menu, AV requirements and check-in time confirmed in writing with the property.
