A 2-3 day team offsite itinerary for Hassan

Hassan is about 180 km from Bangalore, roughly 3 to 3.5 hours by road. It gives you enough distance to actually disconnect, without burning half a day in travel. Belur, Halebidu, Shravanabelagola and a few decent resort properties make it easy to build a proper offsite around.

Getting There and Where to Stay

Most Bangalore teams drive down in a tempo traveller or a small bus fleet. The drive on NH75 is straightforward and the roads into Hassan town are fine. Budget around INR 6,000 to 9,000 per vehicle one way for a 12-seater tempo traveller. For accommodation, you have a handful of resort properties outside Hassan town that can take groups of 20 to 80 people. Rooms are functional, not luxury. Most properties have a lawn, a conference hall and basic outdoor space. Expect to pay INR 3,500 to 6,500 per person per night on a full-board basis, depending on the property and group size.

Day 1: Travel, Check-In and Evening Wind-Down

Leave Bangalore by 7 AM to avoid city traffic. You reach Hassan by 10.30 to 11 AM. Use the late morning for check-in and a brief team session, no more than 90 minutes, to set the tone for the offsite. Keep the first day light. For the evening, a short guided visit to the Hoysala temples at Belur or Halebidu works well. The temples are genuinely impressive and give the group something to talk about over dinner. Follow it with a bonfire dinner at the resort if the property allows it. Most do.

Day 2: Team Activities and Workshops

This is your full working day. A half-day outdoor activity block in the morning works well here. Standard options include a scavenger hunt across the resort grounds, team cooking challenges or a short nature walk if the property has the space. A few resorts near Hassan also offer cycling tracks and small adventure setups. Book the afternoon for structured work. A 3-hour strategy session or workshop with a proper projector and whiteboard setup is enough. Avoid cramming too much. End the day with a group dinner, ideally a sit-down meal with some local food included. Hassan district has good Karnataka home-style food worth trying.

Day 3: Shravanabelagola and Return

Shravanabelagola is about 50 km from most Hassan resorts. The Gomateshwara statue at the top of Vindhyagiri Hill is a 620-step climb, completely worth it for groups that are reasonably fit. Allow 2 to 2.5 hours for the visit including the climb and descent. Carry water and wear footwear you can remove easily at the base. Check out from the resort by 9 AM, do the Shravanabelagola visit, then head back to Bangalore. You are back in the city by 3 to 4 PM depending on traffic. This makes it a comfortable return for a working Monday if the offsite runs Friday to Sunday.

Frequently asked questions

How many people can Hassan handle for a corporate offsite?

Comfortably up to 80 people across most mid-tier resort properties. For groups above 100, you would need to look at venue combinations or a larger property. It is worth confirming conference hall capacity separately from room capacity, as those limits often differ.

What is a rough per-person budget for a 2-night Hassan offsite?

For a standard offsite with accommodation, all meals, one outdoor activity and basic AV for a workshop session, expect INR 9,000 to 14,000 per person for 2 nights. Travel costs are separate and depend on group size and the number of vehicles. Costs come down noticeably for groups above 40.

Is Hassan a good choice if the team has never done an offsite before?

Yes, it is a good first offsite destination. The travel is short enough that people are not exhausted on arrival, there is enough to do outside the resort, and the overall setting feels different from Bangalore without being logistically complicated. It is also easy to keep the schedule flexible if things run over.

What is the best time of year to plan a Hassan offsite?

October to February is the most comfortable window. Temperatures are mild and outdoor activities are practical during that period. The monsoon runs roughly June to September, when the area gets heavy rain. Offsite programmes can still run indoors during monsoon, but outdoor activities and the Shravanabelagola climb become difficult.
