What a corporate offsite in Hampi actually costs

Hampi is around 340 kilometres from Bangalore, roughly a six-hour drive or an overnight train to Hospet. It is not the cheapest offsite destination, but the setting does real work for you. This guide gives you honest per-head ranges and explains what moves the number up or down.

Overall per-head budget ranges

For a two-night, three-day offsite, expect to spend somewhere between Rs 8,000 and Rs 11,000 per head on the budget end, Rs 13,000 to Rs 18,000 in the mid range, and Rs 22,000 to Rs 30,000 or more if you are going with a premium property and curated activities. These figures cover accommodation, all meals, transport from Bangalore, and basic team activities. They do not include alcohol, pre-event gifting, or any large production setup. The biggest single variable is accommodation. Hampi has a clear split between budget guesthouses in Virupapur Gaddi, mid-tier heritage-style properties near the core zone, and a small number of well-appointed resorts outside the monument area. Your choice here will determine roughly 45 to 55 percent of your total spend.

What drives the cost up

Transport is a meaningful line item. A comfortable AC Volvo bus from Bangalore for 40 to 50 people typically runs Rs 18,000 to Rs 25,000 one way. If your group is smaller and you use SUVs or Innovas, the per-head cost rises noticeably. Train is cheaper but requires more coordination and suits groups comfortable with a less controlled itinerary. Activity costs add up faster than most HR managers expect. A guided heritage walk is low cost. Add a coracle ride, a cooking session, an evening cultural performance, and a structured team programme, and you are easily looking at Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,500 per head on activities alone, depending on vendors and group size.

Where you can pull costs down

Going on a weekday, particularly Tuesday to Thursday, gets you better room rates at most properties and more vendor availability. Hampi is also seasonal. October to February is peak, and prices reflect that. If your team can travel in late September or early March, rates soften without much compromise on weather. Keeping meals at the property rather than arranging separate restaurant buyouts saves money and reduces logistics. Most mid-range properties in the area will do a fixed buffet menu for corporate groups at a negotiated rate. That is usually the most sensible approach for groups above 25 people.

Hidden costs worth budgeting for

The Archaeological Survey of India charges entry fees for several monuments in the protected zone. For a group doing a proper heritage walk, factor in roughly Rs 600 to Rs 1,000 per person across multiple sites, more for foreign nationals if any are travelling. This is easy to miss when building the initial budget. Audio-visual and power backup are limited at many Hampi properties. If your offsite includes a full-day indoor session with projection, sound, and reliable power, confirm this explicitly with the venue and budget for a generator backup or portable AV hire. That can add Rs 15,000 to Rs 40,000 to your event cost depending on duration and setup.

Frequently asked questions

Is Hampi suitable for large corporate groups of 100 or more?

It works, but it takes more planning than most destinations. Accommodation in Hampi is spread across multiple properties rather than concentrated in one large resort. For groups above 80 people, you will likely be blocking two or three properties simultaneously. That is manageable but adds coordination effort and can affect group cohesion during the trip.

What is the best way to travel from Bangalore to Hampi for a corporate group?

A private AC bus is the most practical option for groups of 30 and above. It keeps the group together, departure time is in your control, and the drive is straightforward on NH50. The overnight Hampi Express train to Hospet is a good alternative for cost-conscious groups, but you will need vehicles at the Hospet end, and managing luggage and timings for a large group takes more effort.

Are there reliable team activity vendors in Hampi?

There are a handful of established local operators who handle corporate groups regularly, but this is not a destination with the same vendor depth as Coorg or Chikmagalur. Book activity vendors at least four to six weeks in advance, especially for October to January travel. Treemonks works with vetted operators on the ground so you are not discovering availability problems a week before departure.

How far in advance should we book a Hampi offsite?

For peak season travel, October to February, a minimum of eight weeks lead time is sensible. Good properties at the mid and premium tier fill up quickly, particularly over long weekends. For off-peak travel you have more flexibility, but six weeks is still a reasonable minimum to get the right rooms, negotiate group rates, and confirm all vendors without pressure.
