Offsites in Hampi for large teams (100+)
Hampi works well for a large-team offsite if you plan early and accept a few logistical realities. The site is a UNESCO World Heritage Area, so certain activities and venue choices are restricted. Get those constraints clear from the start and the rest falls into place.

Hampi is roughly 340 kilometres from Bangalore. By road it is around 6 to 7 hours, depending on the route and stops. For 100 or more people, the practical option is a fleet of Volvo or AC sleeper coaches, typically booked in batches of 3 to 5 vehicles departing together. Overnight travel is common, leaving Bangalore on a Friday night and arriving early Saturday morning. Train is another option. Hospet Junction is the nearest railhead, about 13 kilometres from Hampi. The Hampi Express runs overnight from Bangalore and has enough capacity for large groups if you book well in advance, ideally 60 to 90 days out. From Hospet you will need local vehicles to reach your property, so coordinate that pickup carefully with your accommodation partner.
Accommodation: what actually works for large groups
This is the main planning challenge. Hampi has no single large hotel that can house 100 people under one roof. The supply is spread across boutique properties, heritage homestays and mid-range hotels in Hospet, Kamalapur and the Virupapur Gadde area across the river. You will almost certainly be blocking out multiple properties, which means your team is split across 2 to 4 locations. Budget roughly 3,000 to 6,000 INR per room per night on the Hampi side for decent properties. Hospet has larger business hotels where rates are lower, around 2,000 to 3,500 INR, but the commute to activity venues adds time each day. A buyout of 2 or 3 adjacent guesthouses in the Virupapur Gadde stretch is a popular approach for teams that want to stay close together.
Venues and activities that fit a team of 100
Open-air spaces are your best bet for large-group sessions. Several properties and resort-style venues near Hampi can arrange lawns or outdoor decks for 100 to 150 people. Expect basic infrastructure, fans or open-air canopies rather than air-conditioned conference halls. If your offsite needs projection, good audio and air conditioning, plan to bring equipment or hire it from Hospet or Bangalore. For team activities, the terrain does a lot of the work. Coracle rides on the Tungabhadra, guided heritage walks through the ruins, boulder scrambling, cycling routes and evening bonfires all scale reasonably well for large groups when split into batches of 20 to 25. Avoid scheduling everything as one large group movement. Hampi's protected site rules mean no amplified music and no commercial activities inside the core monument zone, so keep that in mind when planning evening events.
Budget and timing to keep in mind
For a 2-night, 3-day offsite with transport, accommodation, meals, activities and basic event infrastructure, a working budget for 100 people is in the range of 18,000 to 28,000 INR per person, depending on property tier and activity choices. That range can shift if you need to bring in AV equipment from Bangalore or if you opt for a full buyout of a resort-style property in Hospet. October to February is the practical window. March to May is very hot and June to September is monsoon, which affects outdoor activities and road conditions. Diwali and year-end weeks fill up fast, so for a November or December offsite, start talking to venues at least 3 to 4 months ahead. For 100 or more people, last-minute planning in Hampi is a real problem given limited inventory.

Frequently asked questions
Can we do a one-day offsite in Hampi from Bangalore?
It is technically possible but not advisable for a team of 100 or more. The drive alone is 6 to 7 hours each way, which leaves very little usable time on the ground. A minimum of 2 nights gives your team enough time to actually do something meaningful. If a day trip is the only option, consider a closer destination instead.
Is Hampi suitable for team-building workshops and indoor sessions?
It can work, but you have to be realistic. Dedicated conference venues with air conditioning and professional AV infrastructure are limited. Most large-group sessions happen outdoors or in open-sided event spaces. If structured workshops with presentation setups are central to your offsite, plan to hire equipment from outside and confirm the venue has reliable power backup.
How far in advance should we block accommodation for 100 people?
At least 3 to 4 months before your dates, especially for October to February. Hampi has limited large-group inventory and the good properties fill up quickly during the peak season. Waiting until 4 to 6 weeks out means limited choice, higher prices and the real possibility of your team being spread across locations that are inconveniently far from each other.
Are there restrictions on events inside the Hampi monument area?
Yes. Hampi is a protected UNESCO site and the Archaeological Survey of India has clear rules about what is permitted inside the monument zone. Amplified music, large commercial gatherings and many forms of event production are not allowed in the core areas. All team events and evening programmes should be planned within your accommodation premises or designated private venues, not at the ruins themselves.
