A 2-3 day team offsite itinerary for Hampi
Hampi is about 340 km from Bangalore, roughly 6 to 7 hours by road or an overnight train to Hospet. For a team that wants something genuinely different from Coorg or Chikmagalur, it delivers on that without much effort.

Most Bangalore teams take an overnight sleeper bus from Majestic or Shivajinagar, arriving in Hospet early morning. From Hospet, Hampi is 13 km by auto or cab. If you prefer, book a direct AC tempo traveller from Bangalore for groups of 12 to 15, it costs roughly Rs 12,000 to Rs 16,000 one way and keeps the group together. Train is worth considering. The Hampi Express departs Bangalore around 10 PM and reaches Hospet by 6 AM. Book well in advance, especially for Friday departures. Flights are not practical since the nearest airport at Hubli is about 2 hours away and adds cost without saving much time.
Day-by-Day Itinerary Outline
Day 1: Arrive Hospet by morning, check into your property, rest for an hour, then do a guided coracle ride on the Tungabhadra and a walk through Virupaksha temple and the bazaar street. Evening free at the riverside, good spot for informal team time. Day 2: Split the group. One half does the Vittala temple complex and the stone chariot in the morning. The other half can do a cycling route through the boulder fields and Achyutaraya temple. Afternoon: structured team activity, options include a group cooking session, a photography walk with a local guide, or a facilitated outdoor problem-solving session your coordinator arranges in advance. Day 3: Morning at leisure or a sunrise boulder scramble if the group is up for it. Check out by 10 AM, back in Bangalore by evening.
Where to Stay
Hampi does not have large hotel inventory, so book early, especially for groups above 20. The Evolve Back Kamalapura Palace is the premium option, well-suited for leadership offsites, with proper conference facilities and good food. For mid-range, properties around Kamalapura village and the Hampi Boulders resort (across the river in Virupapur Gaddi) work well for smaller teams of 15 to 25. Note that staying across the river in Virupapur Gaddi means taking a coracle or a longer road route to the main ruins. It is quieter and suited to relaxed workations. If your schedule is activity-heavy, stay on the Kamalapura side to save time.
Team Activities Worth Planning
Coracle rides are a reliable group activity, low-key, everyone enjoys it, no fitness requirement. Boulder scrambling with a local guide is popular with younger teams, half a day is enough. A heritage walk led by a knowledgeable local guide (not the standard tourist variety) can double as a team learning experience if you frame it right. For the work component, open-air facilitated sessions in the early morning work well here because the weather is cooler and the setting keeps people off their phones. Hampi is not ideal for high-energy team sports or large outdoor setups. The site is protected, so activities need to stay outside the core heritage zone. Your coordinator will confirm what is permissible at the time of booking.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best time of year for a Hampi offsite from Bangalore?
October to February is the most comfortable window. Temperatures are manageable and the light is good for outdoor activities. March onward it gets hot quickly, and summers are difficult for anything outdoors. The monsoon from June to September brings some greenery but the roads and bouldering are slippery.
How much should we budget per head for a 2-night Hampi offsite?
A rough working budget is Rs 8,000 to Rs 14,000 per person for 2 nights, covering transport, accommodation, meals and basic activities. The Evolve Back property will push that figure higher. Mid-range properties with group meals and a couple of guided activities usually land in the Rs 9,000 to Rs 11,000 range for groups of 15 to 30.
Is Hampi suitable for a team that wants to mix work sessions with sightseeing?
Yes, but keep work sessions short and schedule them early morning or after dinner. The afternoons are warm and people will want to explore. Hampi works better as a low-intensity workation than a structured conference. If you need a full day of indoor presentations, factor in a proper air-conditioned room, not all properties have good AV setups.
Can Treemonks handle end-to-end logistics for a Hampi offsite?
Yes. We manage transport from Bangalore, accommodation, activity bookings, meals coordination and any permits needed for activities near the heritage zone. We have handled groups from 10 to 60 in Hampi. Share your team size, dates and rough budget and we will send you a detailed plan within a couple of working days.
